Snow!

As we speak, I am looking out over the Bayou Bend driveway and across the ivy covered brick wall at the candy-cane-ribboned columns of the north facade of the house. Part of the view is a steady flurry of big fat snowflakes falling. It's not just a light sprinkling, but a true snowfall as heavy as I have ever seen in Houston. Of course, as soon as it hits the pavement, it disappears, and will probably make the drive home a bit treacherous as the wetness turns icy with the temperature dropping as it is supposed to.

We have cancelled the Candlelight Tours for the evening - can you hear the sigh of relief from the staff. It should be audible most anywhere. Not that the house would not be lovely in the snow, but knowing how Houston grinds to a halt in nasty driving conditions, I seriously doubt anyone would come for a visit........

So I had to take a break and go take video of this. It is now coming down in gargantuan flakes, and is beginning to stick to the shrubbery and grass. It's just lovely!

  1. That is such a cool picture of the fountains. Wow. I am jealous. After I read your post I started thinking about how beautiful it must have been to see the gardens with snow. Supa Dupa.
