In the heat of the summer...

What in the world brought that phrase to mind? And I can hear Joan Baez singing it, at that! I think I need to pull that LP out and listen to it.

The simple explanation is that it is August in Houston, and that means temps in the high 90s and humidity that feels like a similar figure, adding up to a heat index of 110 or something else ridiculous. So, this is the month that we leave our air-conditioned house in the morning, go to our air-conditioned office, take our lunch so we don't have to leave the building at noon, get in our air-conditioned car at 5:00 to drive home to our air-conditioned house. And what in the world are those idiots doing running at Memorial Park when the heat index is exploding? NO, NO, NO!
Hop on the recumbent bike and go, go, go.

I'm not sure where I thought I was going to go with this. Perhaps it's just the fog of the heat. I do wish I were more inspired. That may be an indication that I need to get out of town and clear my brain of all the computer file re-organization and calendar detail that has been consuming my work days. Brain...drain...
