No, not the snow that was predicted. Oops! Just ice. Actually, ice is worse in Houston because, first of all, you can't see it. We in Houston tend to be the self-sufficient types who think that if it can't be seen, there is surely no problem. And then our well-meaning media types have to overdo their warnings and preparations because we don't always make the decision to use our "common sense" mode of thinking.
In any case, I get to stay home today to protect myself from those who do not know how to drive in icy conditions, and I have to admit, that's fine with me. There is always a grocery list of things waiting to be done at home. Closets to clean, clothes to wash, clutter to be un-cluttered, and on the other side of the coin, books to read, music to learn, daydreaming to drift off into, dogs to cuddle, yarn to crochet, Grannys to call. Bank accounts to check, bills to pay, notes to write, cards to send. Recipes to try... What else?
