Ha! I typed that and immediately thought, "Well, that could have a double meaning." Such is the English language, and perhaps others as well, with this whole idea of multiple meanings in a single word.
My original idea was to comment on the American Association of Museums, and their current convention (as in keynote speakers, vendor displays, pull-out sessions, meetings, meetings, and more meetings...) in Houston. It is really a great thing for this to be held in our fair city, and as a museum employee, one may have opportunities to witness intriguing events. Stuff I find truly fascinating... Our facility is hosting an afternoon adventure for those who wish to hop on a bus and come visit, and since we surely wish to be great hosts as Miss Ima would have expected, what better way than to know something about our guests? I studied the list, and lo and behold, these people are here from all over the place - Bahrain, Alberta, Puerto Rico, San Francisco, Nebraska, the North Slope of Alaska, Massachusetts, Charlotte, TheSmithsonian - and from a variety of institutions from burroughs covering thousands of miles to house museums to forts to drug companies.
So what do I do but Google all entities represented and spend some time learning about them. Life is a learning experience. It just nevers stops unless you let it or lose the ability. The lovely thing about museums is that they have the capability to help us do that very thing - learn!
