Spider

Not that inventive a title, but just this morning I remembered something about which I had been meaning to write. I remembered just as, for the upteenth time this week, I managed to walk face first through the handiwork of a very determined spider who has taken a liking to the area between our back door and the driveway where my CRV rests at night. This spider has, for the past week, been spanning the several feet of air space there with a catcher's mitt that ends up on my face or in my hair every morning.

I first noticed its creation early one morning when I had actually walked out via the front door and made the journey up the sidewalk to the car, approaching from the opposite direction than usual. When I looked up, there was the most beautiful of webs, right out of some geometry book or nature magazine. I wished for a camera, but all were inside, and I was running late. By the afternoon, some poor unwitting soul had walked through that one, and the spider was not to be seen. However, the next morning, I walked out the back door, and ick! Found the web with my face. You would think I would learn after having this happen several days in a row...

Finally, this morning, I remembered to watch for it, and went around. Give the little guy a break, right? Actually, I guess it might be a little gal. Whichever, it has to be the most determined, hard-working, stubborn creature around. A true inspiration from nature. I hope he is catching his fill of bugs, and doesn't get too angry with me for crashing his spider party so often.
