I started to write about the sweltering summer heat, but that does nothing to lift one's mood, does it?. It's Friday, and I need something to look forward to for the evening - especially since I fill in as weekend receptionist for the next two days.
What to do? I've been looking for unaccompanied violin pieces to learn. I love the Bach partitas, of course, but have no concerted desire todeal with the fugues, chaconne, and triple/quadruple stops of some of the movements. Truth is that there is a limited amount of repertoire out there, so adding in some fiddle music may help. Cajun? Maybe. I'm open to suggestions, but not expecting any. And why unaccompanied? Well, of course, the obvious - it takes two to make that tango.
I had occasion to practice in the conference room at the VEC. What amazing acoustics! You could fill the whole building with sound from one instrument. I've always thought playing from the 2nd floor landing about Philadelphia Hall would create a wonderful filtering of sound through Bayou Bend, but never tried it.
I do love making music, even if it is just for myself...
