Parsley...

Did you know that there is a parsley plant that grows as tall as a tree, and blooms these miraculous white, starry blossoms every spring? I'm not sure that I had ever see this one loaded with white decor before, but indeed, there it was. If you are able to magnify the picture you can see that the shape of the leaf is just as that of the herb-y, grass-y concoction sometimes appearing on our plates and being shoved to the side for the reason of eating the more tempting items first. I have not great passion for ingesting the stuff, but there may be those who do.
I can, however, love it in this form - growing in the understory, shaded by the pine trees, and relishing in the spring in Houston. Today, on Earth Day, we are having the most spectacular weather that this fair city has to offer, and we know to appreciate it dearly, for the steamy days of summer are not that far away. We can't just look at these days and toss them on the side of the plate. This morning, oddly enough, fate took me on a journey to the 2th floor of a business building overlooking Memorial Park. What an incredible view it was on a crisp clear morning - a view made even more magnificent by the return of green foliage to many parts of the forest. The trouble with fall and winter was that, not only were there huge patches of dead trees due to the drought, there was also the starkness of the forest in its season of rest. An entire change of outlook just brought along by a change of vantage point.
So this evening, I can reflect - knowing that all of the huge decisions I've had to make in the last few months will most likely look much different when I can view them from the other side. It will be good to be able to move forward, believing that I did the best I could, with the best help and guidance I could get, to start a new journey - from a change in vantage point.
