Scroll down...

The weather-forecasting powers that be have predicted a cloudy day for us today. That's ok, but I decided to grab a bit of blue sky before embarking on the weekend's errands. After, v-e-r-y-p-a-t-i-e-n-t-l-y waiting for the picture to upload (Thank you, dear internet provider who really wants me to upgrade to the "new" super-fabulouspeed and technology, which I refuse to do because I will be moving soon...), I realized that my immediately reaction was to want to scroll down to see the rest of the tree. I have thwarted my own self!

Now, first of all, I was not born to the phrase "scroll down." Hard to fathom, I know, and yet, as computer-friendly as I have become, this combination of words was learned vocabulary. Oddly enough, though, it occurred to me that "scrolling down" is something that we are ever-tempted to do. How nice it would be to "scroll down" over the difficult things we encounter - the unsavory people, the tedious work, the impossible decisions, the bouts of ill health, the painful losses...
What a relief that would be!

But then, where would we be without that history? As trying as those times are, it's coming out on the other side that is such a victory. There's always something to give up, but something to gain. No cliche. Problem-solving. It's hard to really live without it. It's easy to think that there are people in the world who, for one reason or another, don't have to problem-solve - that the world is handed to them on a platter. Easy and tempting, but not helpful to our own journeys.

So, no, there's no revealing information to be had by scrolling down in this picture. What you see at this moment is what you get. And the sky is blue.
