Doorways...

This doorway happens to be part of one of the many Spanish missions that one can go visit in San Antonio, Texas.  San Antonio is known by many as a convention city - for its River Walk, great food, shopping, the Alamo, of course, and any number of other attractions  One of those is actually the Mission Trail, which includes several of these compounds within a short ride of each other - many with their chapels still intact, and in some cases, still actually in use to this day.

This stonework has remained intact for hundreds of years now, in spite on much of the deterioration of everything around it. It was all meant to last, and to offer protection to those who entered.  A safe haven of sorts.

Doorways lead both directions. Into the safe, and out into the unknown.  And one is always hoping that, when the time comes to go through the door, there will be some good to come in the journey.  Saying goodbye...saying hello.  Asking for help...offering assistance.  Sometimes, even stopping to peruse the doorway itself and admire it for its own strength, color, and longevity.  Appreciating the transition.

I have lots of doorways to pass through over the next 2 weeks.  Wish me luck!
